Officially/Unofficially Doctor Dave!

Wow! I am back home from the trek to Virginia to attend my graduation. It was a week filled with all kinds of interesting adventures. My son was an absolute trooper and helped care for my aging mother during the big events (and honestly, the whole trip). When I walked across the stage, the first person to shake my hand said, “Congratulations, Doctor,” and I think that was the first time the reality of all this set in.

Now, I know that I am not a doctor yet, as I still have two classes to complete, with one already starting today. However, after the graduation and the commencement ceremony (featuring a terrific Drone Show), I truly feel like a graduate. When booking tickets to visit Thomas Jefferson’s home (Monticello), I booked it as “Dr. David Shields,” which was cool!

I still don’t know what God has planned for me, but I get a little closer to understanding the plan each day. I owe my gratitude to God for allowing me so many amazing opportunities!
